A ductless fume hood is a local exhaust device that purifies laboratory air through an efficient filtration system, without the need for external pipes to discharge exhaust gases. It is suitable for scenarios such as laboratories, pharmacies, and chemical analysis. Its installation must strictly follow technical specifications to ensure safety and functionality. The following are the installation details and precautions for ductless fume hoods:
1、 Preparation before installation
1. Site evaluation
-Space requirements: The fume hood should be placed on a flat and stable ground, with at least 50-80 centimeters of space reserved on both sides for easy opening, operation, and maintenance; A maintenance channel of 30-50 centimeters should be left behind.
-Environmental conditions: Avoid areas with high temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, or high dust, and stay at least 1.5 meters away from precision instruments (such as electronic scales) to prevent airflow interference.
-Power matching: Confirm that the power supply voltage (usually 220V/50Hz) and power meet the equipment requirements. It is recommended to equip an independent circuit and ground it to avoid sharing the line with other high-power devices.
2. Open box inspection
-Check the equipment model and accessory list (such as filters, activated carbon layers, fan modules, etc.), and inspect the cabinet for deformation and surface damage.
-Confirm that the filter model (such as HEPA high-efficiency filter, activated carbon chemical filter) matches the experimental requirements, for example, double-layer activated carbon filtration is required for organic solvent experiments.
2、 Installation steps
1. Positioning and horizontal adjustment
-Place the fume hood in the designated position and use a spirit level to adjust the cabinet to a horizontal position (with an error of ≤ 2 °) to avoid uneven airflow caused by tilting.
-Anti slip pads or adjustable feet can be installed under the cabinet to enhance stability.
2. Component assembly
-Filter installation:
-Install primary filters (such as metal mesh for filtering large particles), HEPA filters (capturing particles ≥ 0.3 μ m with an efficiency of 99.97%), and chemical filters (activated carbon for adsorbing organic vapors) according to requirements.
-Pay attention to the direction of the filter, ensure that the airflow direction is consistent with the label, and fix it with sealing tape or clamping device to prevent air leakage.
-Fan module connection:
-Connect the fan module (including centrifugal fan or axial fan) to the cabinet air inlet and use shock-absorbing pads to reduce vibration noise.
-Check the direction of the fan rotation (which should be consistent with the marked direction) to avoid efficiency reduction caused by reverse rotation.
3. Electrical and Control Systems
-Connect the power cord, bind the cable and thread it into a protective sleeve to avoid contact with corrosive gases.
-Debugging control panel: Set wind speed (usually 0.3-0.5m/s), timing switch, and filter pressure difference alarm threshold.
-Some models require external air vents (such as windows or ventilation openings) to ensure sufficient air supply.
