Please do not use an ultra clean workbench instead of a biosafety cabinet

In the eyes of many practitioners, the difference between biosafety cabinets and purification workstations is not significant, but in fact, they have many differences in both function and use.
1. A biosafety cabinet is a type of biosafety protective isolation equipment used in microbiology, biomedical, gene recombination, animal experiments, biological products, biosafety laboratories, and other laboratories. It is widely used in scientific research, teaching, clinical testing, and production. The main function of a biosafety cabinet is to protect personnel, laboratory environment, and experimental products from exposure to infectious aerosols and splashes that may occur during the operation of infectious experimental materials such as primary cultures, bacterial strains, and diagnostic specimens. Its purpose is to protect the experimental process, operators, and environment from harm.
2. A biosafety cabinet is a negative pressure purification workbench. Proper operation of the biosafety cabinet can protect workers, test samples, and prevent the occurrence of cross contamination; The purification workbench only protects the operating object without protecting the staff and laboratory environment. Therefore, in the research, teaching, clinical testing, and production of microbiology and biomedicine, biosafety cabinets should be selected and used, rather than purification workstations.
3. The purification workbench is designed to protect experimental materials. The air is sucked into the primary filter through a fan, and then enters the high-efficiency filter through a static pressure box for filtration. The filtered air is sent out in a vertical or horizontal airflow state to achieve a hundred level purification degree in the operating area, ensuring the production meets the requirements for environmental purification. Once microbial samples are placed in the work area, laminar air will blow the air containing microbial media towards the front desk staff, causing danger. Therefore, the ultra clean workbench only protects the samples and does not protect the operators. The advantages of the purification workbench are easy operation, comfortable operation, high work efficiency, short preparation time, and can be operated for more than 10 minutes after turning on, which can be used at any time.
4. From the perspective of purification level, biosafety cabinets are also more advanced than purification workstations. Biosafety cabinets generally use H14-U15 ultra-high efficiency filters with higher filtration efficiency. Most ultra clean workbenches use H13 high-efficiency filters.
